BLUE TONGUE UPDATE AS AT WEDNESDAY 16TH APRIL 2025
Added 28 November 2020
BLUETONGUE UPDATE 16.04.2025
Change to Bluetongue Movement Licence Requirements
The pre movement blood testing exemption has been extended until 15th May, due to low probability of midges becoming infectious, this could be changed if conditions alter. Please remember you still need to apply (10 days in advance) for a specific movement licence (EXD632), through your Apha Portal if you want your animals to be available to non-abattoir buyers outside of the Bluetongue Zone. We are encouraging vendors to do this and can supply assistance. Please see details inside. This change will hopefully ease the pressure on marketing space over the next 2-3 weeks, please book early to avoid disappointment.
Animals from within the Bluetongue Restricted Zone which come in without a licence will still be able to remain within the Zone to live or move out directly to a slaughterhouse.
This change does not apply to calves and lambs under 60 days of age, breeding bulls or rams, or pregnant females which will all still need a blood test prior to moving out of the Zone to live.
